Pomodoro timer

Focus in 25-minute blocks with short breaks in between. The countdown shows in your browser tab, so you can keep it open while you work.

Before you use it

Works well for

  • Focused work and study sessions
  • Breaking big tasks into short blocks
  • Keeping a countdown visible in your browser tab

Not the right tool for

  • Running while the browser is closed or the computer sleeps
  • Phones that pause background tabs — keep the tab open

How the Pomodoro technique works

  1. Pick one task and start a 25-minute focus session.
  2. Work on nothing else until the timer rings.
  3. Take a 5-minute break. After four sessions, take a longer 15–30 minute break.

Why short sessions help

A fixed, short block makes it easier to start — 25 minutes feels manageable even for tasks you've been avoiding. Breaks keep your attention fresh, and counting completed sessions gives you an honest measure of how much deep work you did today.

Frequently asked questions

Will the timer keep running in another tab?

Yes. It's based on the clock, not on screen updates, so it stays accurate in the background, and a short sound plays when a phase ends.

Why don't I hear the alert?

Browsers only allow sound after you interact with the page — pressing Start counts. Check that the tab isn't muted.

Is it free?

Yes, with no account needed.
