How to Merge PDF Files Into One (Without Uploading Them)
Job applications, visa forms and expense reports often want "a single PDF". If your documents are in separate files, merging them takes a minute — and there's no need to upload contracts or IDs to a stranger's server to do it.
Merge in four steps
- Open Merge PDF.
- Drop all the files at once (or click to choose them).
- Use the arrows to put them in order; the page count of each file is shown.
- Click Merge PDFs and download the result.
The merge happens inside your browser with the pdf-lib library. There's no queue, no watermark and no file limit beyond your device's memory.
Need to change the order of pages, not files?
Merging keeps each file's pages together. To interleave pages — say, move page 3 of one document to the end — first break the document apart with Split PDF ("one file per page"), then merge the pieces in the order you want.
Adding photos or scans
If some of the documents are photos (a receipt, an ID card), turn them into PDF pages first with Images to PDF, then merge everything.
Things that won't carry over
- Password-protected files can't be opened; remove the password in your PDF reader first.
- Bookmarks (the outline sidebar) of the original files aren't kept. Pages, text, images and links on the page are.
If the merged file is too big to email, run it through Compress PDF afterwards.
