What is HEIC?
HEIC (High Efficiency Image Container) is the format iPhones and iPads use by default since iOS 11. It keeps photos at about half the size of JPG, but Windows, older Android phones and many upload forms don't open it.
How to convert
- Drop one or many .heic files.
- Pick JPG (smaller, works everywhere) or PNG (lossless, larger).
- Download each photo or all of them as a ZIP.
Stop getting HEIC files
On your iPhone go to Settings → Camera → Formats and choose Most Compatible to shoot in JPG from now on.
Frequently asked questions
Are my photos uploaded?
No. They're decoded and converted inside your browser.
Why is conversion slow?
HEIC decoding is heavy work. Large photos can take a few seconds each, especially on phones.
Is photo metadata kept?
Location and camera data (EXIF) are not copied, which is often a privacy win when sharing photos.
