How to Convert a PDF to JPG or PNG Images
Some places only accept images: social networks, many chat apps, website builders, slide decks. Converting PDF pages to JPG or PNG solves that in a few clicks.
How to do it
- Open PDF to JPG and drop the PDF.
- Pick the format and resolution.
- Optionally list the pages you want, such as
1, 3-5. - Convert, then download each page or all of them as a ZIP.
JPG or PNG?
- JPG is smaller and fine for pages with photos or for sharing on social media.
- PNG keeps small text and lines perfectly crisp — better for diagrams, slides and text-heavy pages, at the cost of larger files.
Which resolution?
| Resolution | Good for |
|---|---|
| 72 dpi | Thumbnails and previews |
| 144 dpi | Screens, slides, social posts |
| 300 dpi | Printing |
An A4 or Letter page at 144 dpi is about 1,190 × 1,680 pixels — sharp on most screens. At 300 dpi it's about 2,480 × 3,500, which is what printers expect.
Tips
- Converting hundreds of pages at 300 dpi on a phone uses a lot of memory; do it in batches or on a computer.
- If the images are still too heavy for a website, run them through the image compressor and save as WebP.
- The pages are rendered by your browser with Mozilla's PDF.js. Your file isn't uploaded.
