How to calibrate
- Fill the tank with clean water and run the sprayer at working pressure.
- Catch one nozzle's output in a measuring jug for 30 or 60 seconds (repeat on a few nozzles and average). Or use the flow from the nozzle chart.
- Measure your real field speed: time how long it takes to drive 50 m and use speed (km/h) = 180 ÷ seconds.
- Enter the values. The calculator gives liters per hectare and the product per tank for your label dose.
The formula
L/ha = 600 × nozzle flow (L/min) ÷ (speed km/h × nozzle spacing m). The 600 converts minutes and meters into hectares. If the result is off-target, change speed or pressure, or switch to a different nozzle size.
Check nozzle wear
Replace nozzles that deliver 10% more than a new one — worn tips waste product and spray unevenly.
Frequently asked questions
How often should I calibrate?
At the start of each season, whenever you change nozzles or pressure, and if the area per tank stops matching what you expect.
Does this work for gallons and acres?
Enter metric values; for US units, 1 gal/acre ≈ 9.35 L/ha.
Can I use it for airblast sprayers?
The basic formula still applies per row width, but orchard sprayers have their own calibration methods — follow the manufacturer's guide.
